Great Central Railway | 17th July 2025

A nice normal Thursday on the Great Central Railway in Leicestershire as we see trains at Quorn & Woodhouse and Leicester North Stations.

At Quorn we see interesting shunting manoeuvres with the Alleys lorry team as they take away the 9F steam locomotive no. 92214, it's tender and the Class 27 diesel locomotive no. 27056 for their visit to Derby Litchurch Lane, ready for the Greatest Gathering event the following month in honour of Rail 200.

We then take a ride onboard the griddle car Mk1 coach, hauled by Standard 2 78018 from Quorn to Leicester North and back, with a brief look in the footplate of 78018 and with views over the Swithland Reservoir.
