The NEW link to my Motherhood Superguide (please disregard the link below, or change the .com domain to .co!): http://itlist.co/i/204/motherhood-sup... Time for a house #planttour in our NYC apartment! We are currently growing plants as well as fruits and vegetables and I just had to share an update on their growth!
I've been obsessed with plants ever since my Refinery29 video "5 Days of Indoor Gardening." We have 4 plants in the office – snake plants, a jade plant, and a mystery plant. All of them died when we left the city for 6 months throughout quarantine, but after repotting and caring for them, they came back to life!
We are currently propagating leaves from both of those plants on the wall and they are looking great. If you want to see the video where I built my plant propagation wall, click here: • Minimalist Plant Propagation Wall | CUTE &...

I have to say that the hallway is the greenest spot in the apartment. However, my poor money tree is not doing too well – the entire thing died and all the leaves fell off, but now it’s slowly coming back to life.
Now here's where the VEGGIES come in! We are growing tomatoes, lavender, cucumber, eggplant, different herbs, and lettuces inside our Rise Garden! I decided that I wanted to grow food indoors during quarantine so we got this Rise shelf garden and now it is a jungle! I have to take pH measurements, add nutrients, and keep track of the water that all the plants rest in. It is a very complex system but it is worth it!
The AeroGarden is a good option for anyone who wants to grow fruits and vegetables indoors but does not have too much space. You can pretty much grow whatever you want in it, we currently have tomatoes and peppers in ours. There's a timer that tells you when to add more plant food, but you need to add water pretty often. Pruning is also helpful to keep the nutrients going to the fruits and vegetables instead of the leaves.
As an experiment, I put a carrot top in water, and the greens at the top are starting to grow extremely fast.
We ordered a Ficus Audrey from Bloomscape that sits in the living room. I have to be careful not to overwater it (I'm an over eager plant mom), so I set a timer and only water it every couple of weeks.
Our apartment is a 2 bed / 2 bath. It's a lot more space to grow things than we had in our last apartment, but a future goal is to have a big beautiful outdoor garden!
