She came to me 12 years ago with a Honda 400cc Super Sport engine. Ten years ago I decided she needed a bigger engine, and - with my nickname being 'Honda Hippy' - the engine had to be an old Honda classic.
P'Learn (who actually created this lovely lady some 4 years before I got her) suggested the much-loved cbx750f engine, and he had a totally rebuilt '85 engine fitted and wired-up within a couple of days (the videos are on this channel).
She has been my 'Dream Bike' ever since!
SO...
I needed a new in-line fuel filter, and bought a nice 'metal and glass' filter which - with an 8mm feed - was big enough for a 750cc engine, and small enough not to stand-out too much.
BUT... after fitting the new filter the engine began stuttering at mid to high revs... deffo fuel starvation! Turns out the 8mm filter had a feed hole inside of only 4mm!
So... chucked the nice metal and glass filter in the bin, and fitted a small, cheap, plastic, conical-shaped filter that I had bought by mistake weeks earlier. It was 8mm and seemed to be ok, so the next step was to take 'GIK' (that's her name... it's Thai for 'a bit on the side' lol) out for a test ride... and this video is of that short ride towards Nathon and back. I chose the wrong time of course... too many cars!
I tried to keep the revs a bit higher than usual to see if there were any fuel problems, but all seemed good... even a quick blast up to 11k a couple of times didn't seem to cause any fuel-feed problems, so... SORTED! The cheapo little fuel filter I 'accidently' bought turned out to be the answer :)
Apologies for the sound quality... still trying to figure out the best place to put the Mic... :)
