TOMRA Sorting Mixed Paper From Trash

WMRA Clay Road sorts mixed paper from trash using a TOMRA optical sorter installed by Van Dyk Recycling Solutions (https://vdrs.com). This facility was processing high volumes of commercial waste from businesses using a Cardboard Screen system. The material that carried over the Cardboard screen was quality checked and blended with other OCC to be baled up. The material that fell through the Cardboard screen (the "unders") still had a large amount of small OCC and other papers mixed with trash and non-paper material. Van Dyk added a TOMRA optical sorter to this "unders" stream to positively eject all the remaining fiber from non-paper items (fiber that is ejected together includes: small OCC, mix paper, office paper, etc). Three compactors per day of trash (unders) now became 1 compactor per day of trash and 2 compactors of mixed paper.
