Is Ghost frontman Tobias Forge right to ban phones for the SkeleTour 2025?

It kicks off soon in the UK ahead of their new album, Skeletá, which is set for release on April 25th. You'll still have your phone on you, but it’ll be magnetically sealed in a Yondr pouch for the duration of the show. According to frontman Tobias Forge, it's an experiment in encouraging fans to truly be present and experience the music without distractions.

This bold move has sparked a lot of debate. On one hand, there’s a growing sentiment that phones at gigs create a sense of disconnection, with audiences more focused on capturing content than actually engaging with the performance. Tool tried a similar approach, where the band simply asked fans not to use their phones until the end, and that request actually enhanced the show’s atmosphere and impact.

However, not everyone is on board with the idea of enforced phone pouches. Some fans, especially those who may need to be contactable during the show for personal reasons, feel uneasy about being cut off. Others simply don’t like the idea of being told what to do.
