🚨 FATAL WARNING: Is Your CP Rectifier a Death Trap? (Read This NOW!)
This video is an URGENT ALERT for all pipeline, tank, and structure integrity engineers, as well as maintenance technicians working with Cathodic Protection (CP) Rectifiers.
We reveal a serious, often overlooked failure mode in CP rectifiers that can transform the equipment cabinet into a lethal electric shock hazard! While Surge Protection Devices (SPDs) and Overvoltage Protectors are designed to save internal electronics, a specific failure condition can make them the source of danger.
The CRITICAL Risk Explained:
The function of SPDs is to safely divert transient overvoltages and high-frequency noise directly to the earthing/grounding system. However, if these devices fail permanently in a short-circuit mode or develop an electrical leakage path, they will continuously transfer dangerous voltages to the internal metallic structure and, subsequently, the outer rectifier case or cabinet.
We also analyze another critical failure: When components like step-down transformers or inductor choke filters experience an insulation breakdown (e.g., the copper winding short-circuiting to the component's core or 'mass'), this dangerous voltage is also transferred directly to the metallic supports and, ultimately, the equipment enclosure.
This is a MUST-WATCH to ensure personnel safety and compliance with earthing standards!
