Nestled along the River Test in Hampshire, the neighbouring villages of Wherwell and Chilbolton offer some of the most peaceful and picturesque scenery in rural England.

Wherwell is steeped in history, once home to a 10th-century Benedictine nunnery, and is known today for its thatched cottages, quiet lanes, and riverside walks. The parish church of St Peter and Holy Cross stands among tall trees, a reminder of the village’s deep roots.

A short walk across the meadows brings you to Chilbolton, home to St Mary the Less, a Norman-era church surrounded by a tranquil churchyard. The village opens onto Chilbolton Cow Common, a protected chalk grassland (SSSI) where cows graze and wildflowers bloom in summer.
