The only Full Sized L405 Range Rover, in the known universe, with a Range Rover Sport L494 Gear Shift Lever suffered the broken trigger!

This is a known fault with the L494, but it is a 5 minute fix from the top as opposed to the L405 Spinny Knob. The L405 Gear Selector Switch requires a complete dismantling of the center console to affect the repair.
It is such a common fault - that they have a Range Rover part number for the repair kit! LR117072

Sliding a small Cotter Pin on to the end of the broken trigger seems to be a more permanent solution.
