How to Make Haupia: Quick and Delicious Homemade Recipe

You don't have to go to a Luau to eat haupia. All you need is 4 ingredients! A can of coconut milk, sugar, cornstarch, and water to make this easy homemade haupia.

In the video we mix 1 can of coconut milk with 5 Tbl sugar in a pot and boil that on medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Aside from that, make a slurry of 3/4 cup water and 5 Tbl cornstarch. (I know in the video we said 1/2 c water, but 3/4 c works better). Add the slurry to the coconut sugar mix and stir until it gets thick. If it doesn't get thick, it's not going to set up good in the fridge. You'll still get haupia but more a pudding texture. Don't burn or over thicken though. After you stir it to a thick consistency pour it in a greased pan and cool to room temp. Cover it and stick it in the fridge for a couple hours until it hardens. So easy and delicious. Let the kids help and lick the spoon! Enjoy! Practice and then take it to your next party!
