The Indian government has strongly refuted the latest report by the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), branding it as "biased" and driven by a "political agenda." On October 3, 2024, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal responded to media inquiries, criticizing the USCIRF’s 2024 annual report on India, which alleged worsening religious freedom conditions in the country.
The USCIRF report called for the US to designate India as a “Country of Particular Concern” and cited issues like discriminatory laws, expropriation of places of worship, and violence against minorities. However, India firmly rejected these claims, maintaining that the report is misleading and undermines the USCIRF's credibility.
