Default Mode Network (of the Brain): Brain Structures, Functions & Associations with Psychopathology

The Default Mode Network of the brain is an important pattern of brain activation (activation of certain brain structures) that occurs during states of “rest”, wherein an individual allows their minds to wander or think about past memories or future plans. In this lesson, we discuss the Default Mode Network in more detail, including the important functions it appertains to, and also the issues that can arise if the Default Mode Network is not functioning properly.
