Reduced Energy use Through Improved Pipeline Design
This presentation is part of a three-part series for the SARE Sustainable Energy Conservation Series. This presentation considers the annual energy cost savings for converting from a 70 psi to a 50 psi operating pressure. The financing of improvements to support of the decision-making process. Methods to calculate pipeline friction losses are presented as well as calculation of energy losses in a center pivot pipeline. Examples are also included for friction losses from multiple diameter pipelines as well as a comparison of pumping cost for a system with different pipe diameters.
