This original country ballad tells the true story of a young South African soldier who was killed during Operation Savannah at the Battle of Ebo in Angola, 1975. He served bravely as an armored car driver with B Squadron, 1 South African Engineer Battalion (1 SEB). When his vehicle was struck by Cuban-Soviet artillery during a river crossing, he was killed instantly—while the rest of his crew survived.

This song remembers his sacrifice, the silence that followed, and the long walk back by his surviving brothers in arms. With a haunting blend of acoustic guitar, piano, harmonica, and dual male vocals, Battlefield’s Loss is a tribute to all those who gave everything and were never forgotten.
