Why The Mufasa Movie Was an Unsurprising Disappointment...

Mufasa: The Lion King was an interesting prompt. With it being both a Disney live action remake (boo!) and a new original story (yay!). With an idea like that, it opens the door for other live action remakes to tell more interesting tales, or to open up the world of a beloved classic rather than rehashing the same idea again. And yet. Despite being a rare new change of pace, Disney seems to have flubbed it again. With an inspired story that doesn't even fully execute it's own intention. From minimal betrayal build up, to forgettable songs, to confusing montage shots and almost no magic. Here's where I think Mufasa: The Lion King went wrong.
