Charles Mingus and the album “Mingus Ah Um” set records and pushed boundaries. #8 on the countdown

This week we listened to investigated Charles Mingus, and the album Mingus Ah Um.
Mingus was a passionate person of life and the music he composed and played. He faced many racial, social, and personal obstacles in his lifetime but rose above to become a tremendous force in jazz and an outstanding composer, band leader, and bass player. In this, his first album with Riverside, he made his mark for sure. Albums before and after having made an impact but this one made the deepest grooves in the halls of jazz music.
