A step-by-step crevasse rescue tutorial using a Z-pulley system with only prusik loops and carabiners — no Micro Traxion, Tibloc, ascenders, or mechanical devices.
I originally made this for my rope team to prepare for glacier travel, but it turned out surprisingly clean, so I’m sharing it here. If you're training for classic alpine ascents and want to master basic crevasse rescue with minimal gear, this is it.
The method shown here is great for practicing with the gear every mountaineer should already have — and is especially useful in situations where you don’t have mechanical progress-capture tools.
In the video I cover:
Complete Z-pulley setup using prusiks only
Anchor setup with basic gear
Hauling technique with mechanical advantage
Tips for rope handling and safety
This system works great for 3-person rope teams on glacier routes like Gran Paradiso, Mont Blanc, or anywhere crevasse risk is real.
Let me know if you want a version that adds mechanical gear like Micro Traxion or Tibloc — but this one keeps it 100% manual 💪
Practice this before hitting the glacier — it could save a life.
Stay safe and climb smart 🧗♂️🧊
