Rachel Billings performs Chopin's Ballade No.4 in F Minor Op.52
I may record these ballades again at some point; this is 'take one' and it can be interesting to look back. I feel a certain amount of time is needed between 'learning' a piece and recording to allow for possible change of perspective and difference of interpretation.
Ballade No.4 was completed in 1842 in Paris and published in 1843. The work was dedicated to Baroness Charlotte de Rothschild, wife of Nathaniel de Rothschild, who had invited Chopin to play in her Parisian residence, where she introduced him to the aristocracy and nobility.
Chopin began composing this ballade shortly after the completion of Ballade No. 3.
Do you have a story in mind (pictures/impressions) when you hear this music? Please tell me in the comments. It's interesting since people can attach such different stories in their mind to the music (or sometimes the same one!).
Thank you for watching 😊.
