He claimed this military presence serves as a "buffer" to protect Israeli settlers. Despite ceasefires and truce deals, Israel continues occupying territory, intensifying operations in Gaza while rejecting peace negotiations. Katz's statement signals a long-term strategy of control, not just retaliation against Hamas. Since March 18, over 1,600 Palestinians have been killed following Israel's resumption of military operations, part of a broader campaign that has killed over 51,000 since October 7.
