Was This a Bad Idea? Washing a 30-Year Barn Find | Classic Car Restoration

After last episode’s chaos getting the Talbot-Lago onto the ramp, today we finally give her the first deep wash she’s had in over 78 years. Steam failed — so now we try something stronger.
After moving the 1947 Talbot-Lago T26 onto our improvised ramp in Episode 4, today begins a different kind of progress — cleaning away nearly eight decades of dirt, grime and forgotten history.

Steam didn’t work last time, so this time we switch to stronger methods and finally start revealing her real shape beneath all the layers.

In Episode 5 of Her Car Restoration Diary:
– applying chemicals after steam failed
– scrubbing away years of grime
– pressure washing the Talbot properly
– seeing bare metal emerge again
– checking panels and seams as the dirt lifts
– preparing the car for deeper inspection in the next episode

It’s messy, satisfying, and a long time coming.
