Chasing the NHS Spitfire 30.08.20 | Eurostar EV-97

The mission? Chase the NHS Spitfire into Blackpool Airport and then walk down to the beach for lunch, followed by a trip up to the Lake District, before heading home to Barton.


Both flights had a number of challenges! By the time I got away from Barton, I was behind the Spitfire's published schedule, so we missed it's arrival into Blackpool (the original plan was to follow it in!), but we did, eventually, see it parked on the apron at Blackpool.
After returning from the beach and lunch, we eventually got up close and personal with the NHS Spitfire. What a beast!
The arrival into Blackpool ended up in a go-around, my first ever circuit over Blackpool and a delayed return to Barton because...... you've guessed it, the airfield was closed by NOTAM due to the NHS Spitfire flypast !
We didn't get up to the Lake District due to low cloud on-route.
It's a bit of a long video, but it is two flights in one.
