19th Century Leather Holster – Chapter I

In this video, I will show you how to make a pair of holsters for collectors. These holsters are intended only for storing weapons, not for shooting or everyday carry. That is why they do not have safety catches.

You will see the complete process of making a handmade leather holster for a revolver, including two styles of leather carving and final surface treatments. We will start by selecting suitable cowhide leather, preparing the cut, transferring the patterns, and precisely cutting the individual parts.

We will also go through the techniques of decoration in detail — leather carving and dyeing, right up to edge finishing. I will show you what tools I use, how I prepare the pattern, how to moisten the leather, and also how to achieve sharp details and clean lines. There will also be a demonstration of hand saddlery stitching, dyeing, and final finishing.
