How to watch movies on Quest 2: Ultimate Theater Guide 
This video will show you how and why watching movies on your Quest 2 is such a powerful and pleasant experience. 

It’s ASVR and I’m here to bring you the best methods and options to watch movies on your Meta Quest 2.

I do want to note that watching movies on VR doesn’t mean that you are immersed in the action of the movie. That may be a possibility in the future but for now, you or the avatar will most likely be sitting in a cinema theater to watch a 2D movie. But of course, the view experience you get with Quest 2 equally matches the experience you get by going to the movie theaters (Maybe even better because you don’t have to pay $20 for a soda and medium popcorn). 

First, I want to cover the easiest options available to Quest 2 users. There are few notable steaming services that are available to the user as their own standalone app natively on Quest 2. All you have to do is head over to the Oculus Store, search for either Netflix, or Amazon Prime Video, download the app, sign in with your membership information, and start watching its content!

Next is YouTube. There are two ways you can go about Youtube. First is the more popular option, the 360-degree view videos available free on Youtube. These videos allow you to be sitting in the experience itself to fully immerse the viewer. I highly recommend this option for anyone new to VR and who wants to explore one of the endless possibilities VR offers to you. Next is actually buying or renting movies directly from Youtube. Once, you rent or buy a movie from Youtube’s large library of media, you can view the movie on a large curved screen just like how you view regular YouTube videos on the app.

This next one is BigScreen Beta. This is a VR social media streaming app. You can watch movies, TV shows, YouTube videos, live TV, and you can even watch Twitch! The best part of the app is the social aspect. You can join other’s public rooms and enjoy the content together! You can watch everything in the app with your friends which is something you can’t do on Netflix or Youtube app on Quest 2. There is a library of movies you can watch for free with ads. The movies are not limited to 2D and include 3D movies you can rent which is a crazy viewing experience. They’ve also partnered with CNN, Bloomberg, ABC News, PBS, and NASA for their content as well. Other features also include remotely connecting to your PC and streaming videos that you have on your PC. Or you can connect your Quest 2 to your PC, install the movie file onto the Quest 2 headset, and view it on the Bigscreen app as well.

Next are all of the other streaming sites that do not offer apps to be downloaded on the Oculus Store. Streaming sites like Hulu, Disney plus, and peacock currently don’t offer native Quest apps but you can simply go to the website through Oculus Browser, login, and watch the content.

For this one, I’ll put it under the bonus category just because the app is not only for media but you can view some things for free. The app is VRChat. Even if you’re new, you may have already heard about VRChat. Within VRChat, you can go to many worlds such as Movie and Chill and enjoy the content that’s shown in that world.
