Trump's DC federal takeover continues with new arrests, checkpoints and concerns for the homeless

The National Guard and federal police are enforcing President Trump’s “crime emergency” order in Washington on Thursday morning. It comes as a new checkpoint was set up on 14th Street, where the Metropolitan Police Department and ICE agents were seen patrolling.

Also part of Trump's mission to clean up D.C. is sweeping homeless encampments. The White House said homeless people in the nation’s capital now have two choices — go to a shelter for services or go to jail. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirms that most encampments on federal land have already been removed, with just a few remaining, which are expected to be cleared this week.
