Eastridge Mall in Gastonia opened in 1976 and, at that time, was considered one of the most modern malls of its time.
I remember going to this mall back in the late seventies and through the eighties. Lots of great shops and during the holidays it would be decorated to the nines.
The last update done to the mall was back in 1998, but at that point, it was very underwhelming.
Like many malls, it has suffered the economic downfalls. Losing anchor stores like Sears and JC Pennies did not help. Many stores like Walden Books, KB Toys, Sam Goody, Gadzooks, Merry Go Round, just to name a few, are retail history now.
