"ReDig Those Wells" is hot off the presses. It's a song I wrote for Faith Mission Canada's Thirsting For God Conference for the Gospel Tent Meeting with Pastor John McGregor. PastorJohn was Executive Director of Canadian Revival Fellowship bringing renewal to churches and believers, and for many years served with the Billy Graham Evangelical Association.

Featuring the DS Trio, (hang on to the chorus to hear them) "RedDig Those Wells" reminds us of the diligence and determination sometimes faith requires to let the crystal waters flow. It is taken directly from Genesis Chapter 26.

In Genesis 26:18 we see that Issac redigs the wells of water which the Philistines had filled and stopped them from operating after Abraham’s death!

This was an important moment in Issac’s life (the son of Abraham)! This moment speaks of restoration and remembering his heritage! The act of digging up the wells his father had previously dug, signifies a return to spiritual roots and blessings that God had provided for his father Abraham. His efforts were a testament to his determination to uphold the covenant that God had made with Abrahm and to continue to be a light in a world that often seeks to extinguish the flame of faith and hope.

The Philistine’s had intentionally clogged the wells; a symbol of opposition against God’s promises. This can mirror the struggles in our own spiritual lives! Just as the wells were blocked, we can block our spiritual lives by external pressures, temptations, doubts and sin!

This is a reminder for us to remove the blockages in our own spiritual lives so we can allow the Living Waters to flow! It’s good to reflect on our commitment to God and to nuture and cultivate our relationship with the Lord.
