Can Humans Eat Rare Candies?

The Rare Candy is a bag item that was introduced in generation 1 of Pokemon [Red, Blue, Yellow]. If you give it to a Pokemon, it'll bump them up to the next level. In a 2012 interview shortly after the release of Pokemon Black and White 2, Masuda was asked whether people are able to eat them.
