Between October 25 & November 19, 2025, I went back to Taishan after nearly 6 years to visit my other family members. During my visit, I got a chance to visit Shenzhen to check out their metro system over there. As you would expect, it is so much different compared to the New York City Subway; the most notable being that it’s equipped with modern platform screen doors and the overall cleanliness of the transit system.
The Shenzhen Metro began operation on December 28, 2004, and operates a total of 17 different lines (excluding its tram service), numbered 1-16 & 20. Today, we will be checking out lines 1, 5, & 12. Enjoy!
