A/B comparison between a single coil bridge pickup with and without a (steel) baseplate.
I also recorded a different comparison with another guitar. Check that if you're interested.
The camera was paused during the 5 minute change-over and there were no changes made on the amp or anywhere else.
This is a strat (custom made but still basically a strat) with Leosound Redhouse pickups into a TC HOF mini for reverb and into a lightly modified Fender Blues Jr.
I like the baseplate mod if it fits a guitar's natural sound and where I want to take it. The difference in sound is there but is maybe less drastic than some would like you to believe.
Try it yourself. Easy to do, takes only a few minutes and requires almost no skills.
