Korean Oxtail and Beef Tendon Soup in a hidden Alleyway Restaurant

Angoljung, tucked away in a tiny alley in the historic district of Mokpo,
is the closest thing I’ve felt to having a Korean grandmother cooking for me.
목포의 역사문화거리 한 구석에 자리잡은 “안고정”은 한국 할머님이 저희에게 곰탕을 내주시는 것 같은 느낌을 줍니다.

I heard from my friend Yoonhwa, a local Mokpo misika (foodie), that Angoljung is her favorite place to enjoy gomtang.
목포의 미식가, 친구 윤화는 안고정을 목포 최고의 곰탕맛집이라고 소개시켜주었습니다.

We woke up with a dizzy hangover, searching for some therapeutic soup to cure our headaches, and we are so happy to find this place.
어젯밤 숙취를 해소시켜줄 해장국을 찾아 이곳을 방문했습니다.

Walking into this restaurant was just like walking into grandmother’s house,
and the owner kindly asked if we wanted to sit near the TV,
식당 입구가 마치 할머니집 같고, 사장님이 방안 TV근처 자리가 어떻냐고 친절하게 물어봐주십니다.

We both ordered a mix of kori (tail) and nogani(tendon) soup.
저희 둘다 꼬리 + 도가니 탕을 시켰습니다.

In this episode, I want to share our experience at this amazing little soup shop in Mokpo,
which I think is a must-visit matjip if you long to remember Sunday meals at grandmother’s house.
