Monster Plantation/Mansion opening scene throughout the years ~ Six Flags over Georgia

Evolution of the entrance tunnel and opening scene in the Monster Plantation/Mansion ride. It has gone through many changes over the years from 1981-present day. The first clip is from 1989, but I did have a very hard time finding any videos from before then, so we just have to assume it was relatively the same. The original concept for the ride was that it begins in a sunken plantation, which the first variation does pretty well. It’s old, beat up and flooded, with Mizzy Scarlett greeting guests from atop a staircase. There is no music in the actual room, with only the original recording of the theme song playing in the tunnel on loop. Given the original concept for the ride, this was done very well. Then the 2009 refurbishment into Monster Mansion completely redid the entire room, it no longer looks abandoned and in ruins, now having a more up-kept look and some new characters as well; Papa Razzi and the Birdie. This introduces a new gimmick for the ride, you make a “monster face” and Papa Razzi takes your photo, with Birdie holding the camera. I actually think it’s really cute, Papa Razzi is definitely one of my favorite characters in the ride. In this refurbishment, it was also given an amazing new re-recorded theme song and area music loop, which I absolutely love and it’s way better than the original. However, there has been many issues with maintaining the picture screen and it has become infamous for not working most of the time. Mizzy Scarlett also has a new voice recording, now mentioning Tatty Too by name, and a really cool piano cover of the theme song plays in the room. Then in 2023, it went through another major refurbishment, completely changing the vibe of the room once again. This is actually my favorite version believe it or not. They have pretty much done away with the entire “plantation” theme, which is sad in that they have replaced the word plantation with “mansion” on the songbook in the finale room (despite the song still saying plantation, so it just makes no sense imo) and because of that, now playing the band music instead of the actual theme song with lyrics in that room, which makes me sad. It now has a more modern and cooler vibe, with the darker colors and lighting, as well as Mizzy Scarlett’s new outfit. I must be one of few people who actually likes and prefers her new outfit, I think it looks great and completely refreshed compared to the old drab dress she had prior. She now has a higher end looking jacket, and still has converse, but now look like they are actually part of the costume and not just a random and cheap choice for shoes like before
