I have been playing on a grumpy old open-hole B-Foot Moz flute for several years now, but just bought (rent-to-own) a lovely slightly-used open-hole B-Foot Emerson that is a BIG upgrade from Royalton Music Center in North Royalton, Ohio. (if you go, ask for Linda- she is the best!) she is wonderful: knowledgeable, kind, efficient and will get you what you need for a really great price. I've been coming to Royalton Music for nearlry two decades now and purchase several instruments and most of my supplies there.
Anyhow-- this video is a quick comparison between the sound of the Moz I've been playing and the Emerson I just got. I think you can hear a clear difference, even though I'm using the crappy microphone on a basic mobile phone to record this. let me tell you-- they FEEL competely different to play on. the Moz is a lot of work and I would finish most practice sessions with tension or even a cramp in my hands. the Emerson plays with so much less effort and I think it sounds great. Liisten for yourself and see what you think:
(please forgive a couple missed notes in the Back sonata, it's been ages since I've played this piece....)
