In this video, I explore the Quy Nhơn night food market and try some of the city’s most iconic local dishes. First up is bánh xèo (Vietnamese pancakes), cooked fresh by an aunty right in front of you. There are three fillings to choose from — prawns, squid, and beef — all wrapped in a crispy rice flour pancake and dipped into Quy Nhơn’s famous sauce made from fish sauce mixed with peanut sauce.
Next, I try bánh cuốn Tây Sơn, a local specialty from Bình Định. It’s served with nem nướng (grilled pork sausage), nem chua (fermented pork), fresh vegetables, boiled egg, and bánh tráng giòn (crispy rice paper). Everything gets rolled up in rice paper and dipped into that same addictive peanut–fish sauce combo.
On the side, there’s also chả cá nướng (grilled fish cake) served with rau răm (Vietnamese coriander), adding even more local flavor to the meal.
