伝統建築を支える職人たちをとらえた映像 -『令和の職人たち』Japanese Modern Artisans Upholding Traditional Construction Techniques

江戸時代に創建され、大正時代に原三渓によって横浜に移築された臨春閣は、２０１９年１月から大規模な修理が始まりました。この４年にわたる工事は、現代に伝統技術を受け継ぐ職人たちによって行われました。臨春閣は工事前も工事後もその姿は変わりませんが、その姿を維持するには多くの伝統技術が必要です。この映像では、表には現れない職人たちの技術がドキュメントされています。

he Rinshunkaku, originally built during the Edo period and relocated to Yokohama by Genzaburou Inokuma during the Taisho era, underwent extensive repairs starting from January 2019. Over the course of four years, modern artisans carrying on traditional techniques were responsible for the restoration work. While the appearance of the Rinshunkaku remained unchanged both before and after the renovations, preserving its appearance necessitated a wealth of traditional skills. This footage documents the craftsmanship of artisans whose work often goes unnoticed.

In 1649, Rinshunkaku was established in Wakayama Prefecture, and in 1917, after an 11-year construction process, it was relocated to Yokohama.

In 2019, extensive repair work, named "Reiwa Restoration," commenced.

Construction work on cultural heritage buildings, such as Rinshunkaku, must be conducted in a manner that preserves their original value. As a result, there are hardly any traces of such construction work. Despite undergoing extensive construction, Rinshunkaku appears unchanged before and after the work, at first glance. This preservation is achieved through the expertise of artisans who inherit and employ traditional Japanese techniques.
