Red light error work around hack. This may help your cricut at least cut some things by using the draw function and using an adaptor for the blade to fit in the pen clamp A. It kind of makes it like an explore air 2 as this fix does not allow for knife blade and rotary blade functions.

This may help when the Cricut red light starts flashing at the tool detection stage, or while it is cutting. This is only a work around as the problem most likely lies in the main circuit board for the tool detection sensor. The pen tool does not have this sensor and therefore generally works. If the pen draws, but clamp B does not or stops cutting, it is most likely on the main board in the circuit that controls the tool motor that spins the gear atop of clamp B. It could also be in the tool detection circuit and probably on the board rather than the sensor itself. However it is possible and you could check the connections for that motor or the sensor. Lastly it could also be, though highly unlikely, a problem in the motor or the sensor itself.

My understanding is the reasons for a red light error are as follows:
1: The machine is jammed (something is stuck in the machine)
2: The blade cannot be detected (this could be a matter of some dirt or debris on the sensor or blade, the sensor itself malfunctioning, the circuit/board the sensor is on, or a connection issue with the sensor.
3: A motor is either unplugged or has a bad connection.

I believe it may usually be a board error.

Perhaps someone with a 3-d printer will make an adaptor for this with a couple of height marks for the deep point blade and to make multiple passes through thicker material.
