IEC sharpening its tools ahead of local govt elections

The Electoral Commission is sharpening its tools to ensure that it gives the electorate an improved voting experience in the upcoming Local Government Elections. The local polls are expected to be the most hotly contested elections with over 100 000 candidates vying for 10 000 municipal seats.
Whilst the Commission is busy preparing for the polls, it also reflected on a number of issues it was seized with in 2025. These include Electoral amendments pertaining to the political party funding act, consolidating public feedback on e-voting and the interventions put in place to mitigate the challenges experienced in the previous elections amongst others.
