Join us as we drive our Toyota Tundra "Shehzadi" from Navi Mumbai across the mighty Western Ghats to Kolhapur! NH-48 serves up two legendary mountain passes—Bhor Ghat near Lonavala–Khandala and Kashedi Ghat near Mahabaleshwar—and both deliver dramatic cliffs, ancient basalt geology, and enough curves to keep us wide awake.
Pune greets us with its huge, modern sprawl, rich Maratha history, booming tech scene, and the energy of a fast-growing cultural capital. After crossing the second mountain pass, we enter the Deccan Plateau, one of the world’s oldest landforms, before reaching Kolhapur.
Tonight, Shehzadi is parked proudly on the ramp to the underground garage behind The Fern Hotel Kolhapur, and we celebrate with amazing Indian mutton dishes—a huge treat after weeks in mostly vegetarian regions.
Tomorrow we push south into Karnataka!
