This Poma Challenger high-speed quad was initially installed in 1997 as the Tombstone Express on the Canyons side of Park City. In 2006, a Doppelmayr-CTEC high-speed six replaced the old quad for capacity reasons, and the tower tubes were reused. That same year, the Poma quad was reinstalled at Steamboat to replace a Doppelmayr triple, and the former triple’s tower tubes were reused. This was the last project under ASC before Intrawest took over. Overall, it is usually a quick ride and a great place to lap with wide-open trails and tree shortcuts. There is a taco-serving snowcat called the Taco Beast that hangs out near the bottom of this lift. There are 115 chairs and 21 towers. Actual speed is 830 fpm, but the video is sped up to 888 fpm.
Recorded Feb. 8, 2025.
I wanted to get a better video of this lift since it ran slower in my last video. This video is like an “average” of my previous two Sunshine videos, in terms of line speed.
