I first met Troy when he was a comedy host on Carnival Cruise Line, always encouraging guests to come visit his island. So I took him up on his offer! For seven days, I explored St. Vincent, not just as a tourist, but as family. Troy, his mom, his daughter Aya, and my Caribbean sister Lorie welcomed me into their homes with open arms.

And the highlight? A home-cooked Caribbean meal: Pelau. 🇻🇨🍲 While cooking together, Troy shared conversations about Caribbean culture, food traditions, and even what life was like eating crew meals compared to the flavors of home during his cruise ship days.
