Plane spotting at Haneda Airport in Tokyo, Japan. The observation deck is publicly accessible and offers a fantastic view of the apron directly in front of the gates. Not great runway views though I did catch a few landings. There are shops and restaurants at the airport that offer a great variety. There were a lot of planes that we wouldn't get in Calgary. Some of the highlights include:
A Lufthansa Boeing 747-8i and Airbus A350
Airplanes from all three major Chinese airlines (Air China Airbus A330, China Eastern Airbus A330 and China Southern Boeing 777-300ER)
Airplanes from both major Korean airlines (Korean Air Boeing787-10 and Asiana Airbus A330)
Airplanes from both Taiwanese airlines (EVA Air Boeing 787-10 and China Airlines Airbus A330)
The Star Wars Boeing 777-300ER from ANA
Various other JAL and ANA planes, including some of their narrow bodies
A Finnair Airbus A350
A Garuda Indonesia Airbus A330
A Japanese coast guard airplane
It was also fascinating to watch the various movements in the airport for the trucks and luggage carriers across the terminals.
