While armor of old was attached with ties and straps, modern eva foam armor is much lighter weight and when you are wearing it for cosplay you want it to be easier to get in and out of. Magnets are a great way to create attachments for both cosplay armor and props when working with EVA foam . If you do it right you can make suiting up much faster and easier or even be able to get your props to break down into pieces that are easier to store and travel with. Here are a few Key Tips for Magnetic attachments on EVA foam Armor and props and some things to remember when working with the magnets.
Use Washers on one side and magnets on the Other
The Side Swipe
The Inset and Reverse Inset
The Sandwich
The Overlap or Underlap
If using spray paint or airbrush make sure to wait to glue magets in until after painted.
