Here are 3 tips to make your Thai more natural and conversational — just like how Thai people speak in real life!

1️⃣ Skip Subject or Object Pronouns
Thai often drops “I” (ฉัน / chăn) or “you” (คุณ / khun) if it's obvious from the context.

✅ Formal:
สวัสดีค่ะ คุณสบายดีไหมคะ
(sà-wàt-dee khâ, khun sà-baai dee mái khá?)
= Hello, how are you?

👉 Colloquial:
หวัดดี สบายดีไหมอ่ะ
(wàt-dee, sà-baai dee mái à?)
= Hey! How are you?

2️⃣ Shorten Words or Sounds
Some words get shortened in casual speech.

✅ Formal:
อย่างไร (yàang-rai) = how
👉 Colloquial:
ยังไง (yang-ngai)

3️⃣ Use Ending Particles for Natural Tone
Add soft particles like อ่ะ (à), นะ (ná), or ล่ะ (là) to sound more expressive or relaxed.

✅ Formal:
ฉันหิว พวกเราไปกินข้าวไหม
(chăn hĭu, phûuak-rao bpai gin khâao mái?)
= I'm hungry. Shall we go eat?

👉 Colloquial:
หิวอ่ะ ไปกินข้าวกัน
(hĭu à, bpai gin khâao gan)
= Hungryyy, let’s go eat!

✅ Formal:
วันนี้อากาศร้อน ฉันไม่อยากไปวิ่ง
(wan-níi aa-gàat ráawn, chăn mâi yàak bpai wîng)
= It’s hot today. I don’t feel like running.

👉 Colloquial:
วันนี้อากาศร้อนจัง ไม่อยากไปวิ่งเลยอ่ะ
(wan-níi aa-gàat ráawn jang, mâi yàak bpai wîng loei à)
= So hot today… don’t feel like running at all.
