Check out the oldest specimen in our museum's collections: a piece of the Allende meteorite that fell in Mexico in 1969. It was one of the first things to form in our solar system!
The museum hosts the national meteorite collection. Meteorites are important to study because they reveal information about the composition of Earth and that of the other planets.
The video is part of a special behind-the-scenes series in 2020, in lieu of our popular annual open-house event, which typically receives well over 3000 visitors.
