Jann Arden - UNLOVED (Live in Vancouver) - Standing for Canada’s Horses

On September 27th, 2024 Jann Arden gathered with some friends in the alley at TOGETHERHEADS Studio in Vancouver, BC to talk about LIVE HORSE EXPORT. She spoke a few words and sang a few songs to raise awareness for a shameful secret that most Canadians don’t know. Canada has a loophole in its legislation that allows the inhumane transport of live horses by air to foreign countries where they are slaughtered for human consumption. Stuffed into cramped crates by cover of night at our airports, horses are frequently injured or killed and always terrified throughout the prolonged journey.

Despite Canadians’ widespread opposition to this practice, our politicians are divided along party lines. Bill C-355 has had some success in Parliament, passing by a narrow 181-137 margin. However, with a changing political landscape on the horizon, it now goes to the Senate where the final outcome remains uncertain.
