This video discusses the compositional techniques behind any good melody. The concept of using motivic ideas/openings to spin a melody. Use of phrasing (regular and irregular), repetitions, sequences, augmentation, diminution, interpolation, extension and ways to effect modulations are discussed with clear musical examples.
The purpose of this video is provide musicians, teachers, students and instrumentalists to compose and write good melodies, with the necessary tools and skills. At the Grade 6 level, these esential skills can guide anyone taking ABRSM exams, 'O' levels/'A' levels in Music or IB in Music.
