17-year-old Crystal Palace academy starlet Benji Casey speaks for the first time after making his senior debut in the pre-season friendly against Shelbourne (0-3 win). The young midfielder came on in the final minutes alongside Joel and Kayden, and described the warm welcome from the first-team squad, Oliver Glasner’s simple but perfect advice (“Just do your thing, man”), and how even just two minutes on the pitch felt like a dream come true.
Goals from Chris Uche, Eddie Nketiah and Yannick Pino sealed the victory in Dublin, but the biggest story of the night was the debut of the next generation of Palace talents.
Benji also talks about staying humble, continuing to impress with the U21s and U18s, and his hope for more first-team minutes this season.
