Vysoké Tatry – Tatranská Lomnica is a Slovakian ski resort famous for its longest downhill run: a 5.5 km piste with a 1,300 m elevation drop, stretching from Lomnické Sedlo to Tatranská Lomnica. However, the upper black section of this iconic run is rarely open due to its southern exposure and increasingly snowless winters, as there are no facilities for artificial snowmaking at that altitude.
The lower part of the resort, unfortunately, suffers from severe overcrowding, with large numbers of inexperienced skiers creating long lift queues. Although the slopes are well-maintained, the heavy traffic on the south-facing pistes quickly deteriorates their condition within 2–3 hours, leaving skiers with a limited and less enjoyable experience. Combined with a shortage of pistes to choose from, the resort often struggles to meet the expectations of a relaxing skiing vacation.
