Lavender Town Syndrome: a Creepypasta Retrospective

Creepypastas have been an online phenomenon to remember, helping shape internet culture of the 2010s. One of the most famous of which Is Lavender Town Syndrome - a collection of creepypastas detailing horrific events to the children who played the first generation Pokémon games upon launch after hearing the haunting chiptune music of Lavender Town. The town's creepy aura and unsettling storylines are prime examples of the different shape of abstract horror that can be presented to us by video games - a subject I have always found deeply intriguing.
