The Mumbai Coastal Road, officially named the Dharmaveer Swarajya Rakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Coastal Road, is a new Mumbai landmark. Its alignment runs from the Princess Street Flyover at Marine Drive and connects all the way to the Worli Sea Link, creating a seamless, signal-free corridor.

This project includes a combination of reclaimed land, bridges, and two magnificent tunnels, which you'll see in this video. The best part? The driving speed limit is 80 km/h, which is a dream for anyone who's ever battled Mumbai traffic. The result is a dramatic reduction in travel time, saving up to 70% of commute time between these two key points. My own experience showed me that this 8.5 km stretch, which used to take me nearly 45 minutes to an hour on a busy night, can now be covered in just over 10 minutes!

The journey begins at the southern tip near Marine Drive. The moment I entered the Coastal Road, I felt an immediate sense of peace. The road is incredibly smooth, and the multiple lanes provide a feeling of space and freedom that is rare in Mumbai. The first major part of the drive is the newly constructed twin tunnels. Driving through them felt surreal.
