When I open my eyes, a familiar face
Flashes through the dark.
In the hollowed gaps of lost time,
Cold air seeps in like a warning.
And in that void, I see myself
Smiling, with blood-stained hands.

Screams and wailing,
A voice that sounds like mine yet isn’t.
Twisted, fractured scenes
Tighten around the core of my heart.

Who am I now?
Must I bear the weight
Of this unforgiven sin?
The memories returned
Only to tear me apart.
In a darkness with no escape,
I am terrified
Of myself.

A dim, narrow alleyway,
Heels striking stone like a pulse.
And at the end of that path,
I hold someone in my arms.

Death rises through my fingertips,
And at that frozen, bloodless face,
I see myself
Laughing.

Scenes that cannot be undone,
The last trace of warmth
Brushing against my hands
Each one drives itself deeper,
Delivering judgment.

Who am I now?
The truth I once erased
Returns to devour me whole.
On the border of shadow and light,
It tries to shatter me again.
In this darkness with no escape,
I fear no one
But myself.

Memories restored
Are they blessing, or damnation?
I cannot say.
Yet in this stillness,
Once again,
I face myself.
