Bit of a tricky Wednesday grid by Adrianne Baik - but the theme turns out to be simpler than I thought, with the second word of each theme clue just standing in for "woman".
THINGS I MISSED:
16A - I guess you'd only ever see this wonky spelling online
40A - prodigy, Fields Medalist, university professor
6D - especially in courts where only some of the justices typically hear any given case
7D - definitely a flatbread
11D - apparently a solid coloured (especially red) or strongly patterned tie
37D - Wyoming and South Dakota, oddly enough
